The annual Fencing Singapore International 2014 was held from the 12th to 15th of June at the Jurong East Sports and Cultural Centre. Our ABF fencers did not fail to fly the Absolute Fencing colours high as they brought home medals in nine out of the 12 events contested.

Zhang Zhenggang finished the competition in 5th place after a nail-biting quarter-final match, losing by just one point. Joshua Lim also narrowly lost his quarter-final match with a score of 15-14.

Choy Yu Yong won a Bronze in the Men Sabre event after losing to the eventual champion with a score of 15-12, while his team mate Lam Jing Siang finished in 8th place after bowing out to Yu Yong with a score of 15-13.

In the Women Epee event, Goh Wan Qi brought home a Bronze after defeating her junior Tasia Lee in the quarter-finals with a score of 15-8. Her team mate, Nicolette Soh won a Bronze after a close-fought quarter-final match where she defeated her opponent with a score of 14-13. Victoria Lim finished in 5th place after she lost to the eventual champion in the quarter-final round with a score of 15-13.

Wang Wenying  achieved a Bronze in the Women Foil event after a tough-fought semi-final against a Malaysian fencer who is currently ranked 1st in her country.

In the Women Sabre event, Christabel Yong earned herself a Bronze after defeating her team mate Jolie Lee in the quarter-final round with a score of 15-14.
