The Asian Junior and Cadet Fencing Championships 2013 were held in Bangkok, Thailand from the 2nd – 11th of March.

Joshua Lim flew the Singapore flag high, winning a Bronze in the Cadet Men’s Foil Individual event after beating his opponent from China by one point in his quarter-final match. His Bronze medal is the first and best result that Singapore ‘s Men’s Foil team has ever achieved at the Asian Junior and Cadet Championships.

Christian Lim and Joshua Lim did Singapore and Absolute Fencing proud once again when they brought back another Bronze in the Men’s Foil Team event. Joshua scored the winning point for Singapore against the Korea team in the nail-bitingly close quarter-finals where Singapore won by one point. The team’s Bronze medal in the event is also the first medal for Singapore’s Men’s Foil team in the Asian Junior and Cadet Championships.Elizabeth Ann Lim and Donna Lim did the country proud as well when they won the Silver in the Junior Women’s Epee Team event, the best result that Singapore has ever seen at this event for the Asian Junior Championships. The girls met Iran in their round of 16 match, beating them with a score of 42 – 37. The girls then went on to upset the Kazakhstan team, who were seeded first in the team event, with a score of 45 – 37. In their semi-final match, they met Korea, a powerhouse epee team. It was a close fought match, with Singapore trailing by 2 points for most of the time. However the girls proved their worth and emerged victorious against the Koreans with a final score of 40 – 33. The team went on to meet Australia in the finals. After a tough fought finals, the team lost it in the last bout and the match eventually went to Australia who won with a score of 45 – 38.
